Medusa Sportfishing is very fortunate to have Captain Lance Gelman operating our charter service. Captain Lance is a highly accomplished fishing guide and our philosophy is to show our clients the best possible day on the water to help them maximize the odds of catching a memorable fish.
Captain Lance Gelman:
Captain Lance is a graduate of Hunter College in New York City and has had his USCG 100 Ton License since 1978
and his 500 Ton Masters License since 1982. Lance has run boats up and down the west coast of North America and has worked on boats in Kona since 1984. Lance is a tireless worker and is able to handle all of the operating systems on the Medusa.
Lance has worked in the charter fishing industry since he was 14, and his love of fishing, the ocean and his clients has always rewarded him. Lance believes it is his responsibility to show his clients a great day whether the fish are biting or not. With that said Lance is a very accomplished captain, catching two grander Blue Marlin (1058lb and 1075lb), 57 Mahi Mahi in a single day and has many tournament victories to his credit. A superb Ahi (yellowfin tuna) fisherman, Lance won first place in the Maui Jim Tournament Ahi Division three years in a row: 2009, 2010, and 2011.
Lance looks forward to spending the day with you, sharing his vast experiences on the water and focusing on catching you your fish of a lifetime.
Captain Steve Kaiser:
Captain Steve Kaiser is a lifelong boater licensed with his USCG 100 Ton
since 1975. Steve has decades of experience fishing the waters off Hawaii, as well as Alaska, Cabo San Lucas, New Zealand, Australia, Fiji and Tahiti, and he puts those years of knowledge to work for you when you book Medusa Sportfishing. Whether you are a lifelong fisherman looking for a tournament win or record breaking catch or a first time offshore angler wanting to catch you and your family their first fish, Steve’s expertise and easy going disposition will enable you to experience Kona’s world class fishery for yourself.
Steve and the Medusa have multiple tournament wins with his largest fish to date a 1000 lb Pacific Blue Marlin as well as a 966lb Black Marlin, one of the largest ever recorded in Kona.
Steve is a graduate of the University of Hawaii with a degree in psychology, so it is no surprise that he understands both the excitement of the strike and the patience required to reach your goal. Steve loves to “talk story” of his lifelong fishing adventures and looks forward to spending the day with you.
